Join a Committee and Get Involved With The BSAA

The BSAA is a volunteer based organization and needs your help. The interim Board has set up several committees to help us move forward on our mission to collaborate with Buxton to ensure its future and to connect with each other as Buxton alum. We need volunteers to join one or more of the committees to spread the load, much like Work Program.

Here is a brief description of each committee and the Chairs:

Membership - Jeffrey Von Arx (Java) ’87 and David Bluestein ‘08, Co-Chairs. Our work is to grow the BSAA member base, track down lost Alum and work with Buxton on outreach to increase engagement with Buxton and the BSAA. We endeavor to create a robust Alum Directory with networking and opportunities to connect and support each other. To date, only 10% of Buxton alums have become members of the BSAA. As we prepare to embark on a concerted effort to encourage the remaining 90% to join the BSAA, we could use a few more volunteers to fill out our ranks.

Technology – John Benjamin ’86 Chair. We manage the tech that makes the BSAA work. We need help developing and managing membership data, the BSAA website, email distribution, alumni directory, and anything else involving technology.

Finance – Harton Wolf ’62 Chair. We manage BSAA operating funds and expenses, filing reports, taxes and all things financial for the BSAA including our bank accounts, paying bills and creating budgets. We also manage the filing requirements of the IRS and Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Development – Everett Williams ’90 and John Benjamin ’86 Co-Chairs. We raise BSAA operating funds, support Buxton fundraising campaigns in collaboration with school leadership and assist with virtual and in-person events.

Communications – Robyn Linzner ’07 Chair. We’re the wordsmithers and our focus is on content for the BSAA messaging including the website, newsletter, social media and emails. We need writers and editors and those with a way with words.

Engagement – Ellen Shershow ‘90 and James Stockman ’60 Co-Chairs. We connect alums with each other and with Buxton for socializing, mentoring, networking and community strengthening.

Buxton needs an active and involved alum group to thrive and we need your help to make that happen. We look forward to having more of you at the table with us or sharing the Zoom screen!
